Supported AI providers and which one to choose

What it is

AISA can generate SEO text with several large-language-model providers, and each has different costs, rate limits and capabilities. This article explains the seven providers AISA supports in bring-your-own-key mode and helps you pick the right one for your job. The short version: use DeepSeek for cheap, high-volume text; Claude or OpenAI when you also want image (Vision) support or top writing quality; and keep Perplexity for the GEO Radar (AI-citation) feature, not for bulk SEO.

Where to find it

AISA → Settings → API Keys tab. Every provider has its own card with a capability badge (a green "SEO images" badge means it supports Vision; a struck-through grey one means text only), a cost note, a rate-limit note and its model list. The "Provider limits & rate-limits" box on the same page summarises which providers handle big batches best.

Requirements & tier

  • BYOK providers work on Free and Premium tiers (token-counted). On AISA Cloud the provider is chosen automatically by our server and you do not configure keys.
  • An account and API key with the provider you choose; some need a small prepaid balance.
  • For image alt-text you need a Vision-capable provider (Claude, OpenAI or Gemini). DeepSeek, Mistral, Grok and Perplexity cannot see images.

How to use

  1. DeepSeek — cheapest for text (~€0.0002/generation), generous limits, no hard daily cap. Best choice for big 1-Click/Bulk batches at high AISA Turbo speed. No Vision (no image alt-text). Key: platform.deepseek.com.
  2. OpenAI (ChatGPT) — balanced quality, has Vision. Watch the per-tier daily request cap (Tier 1 is roughly 10,000 requests/day): on very large sites with Turbo you can hit it and get blocked until reset. Models: GPT-4o Mini (cheap) and GPT-4o. Key: platform.openai.com.
  3. Anthropic Claude — excellent writing quality, has Vision. Per-organisation token/minute limits, no hard daily cap; handles parallel batches well with Haiku. Models: Haiku 4.5 (fast/cheap), Sonnet 4.6, Opus 4.8. Key: console.anthropic.com.
  4. Google Gemini — cheap and has Vision. Uses gemini-2.5-flash (the older 2.0-flash was deprecated). Free tier in AI Studio has low quotas; paid projects raise them a lot. Models: 2.5 Flash, 2.5 Flash-Lite, 2.5 Pro. Key: aistudio.google.com.
  5. Mistral AI — European (GDPR-friendly), economical with Mistral Small (~€0.0002/gen). No Vision. Free plan is limited; paid plans raise limits. Key: console.mistral.ai.
  6. xAI Grok — capable but more expensive (~€0.006/gen). Generally ample per-account limits; better for small/medium volumes than huge batches. No Vision. Key: console.x.ai.
  7. Perplexity (Sonar) — special purpose: it answers with real web search, built for the GEO Radar AI-citation feature, not for SEO batches. Every call pays a web-search fee, so it is slow and costly at volume. Key: perplexity.ai/settings/api.

Questions people ask

  • What is the single cheapest option for hundreds of pages? DeepSeek — around €0.0002 per generation with generous limits.
  • Which give the best-written text? Claude (Sonnet/Opus) and OpenAI GPT-4o tend to read best; for most SEO meta the cheap models are already fine.
  • Which ones can do image alt-text? Only Claude, OpenAI and Gemini support Vision. DeepSeek, Mistral, Grok and Perplexity are text-only.
  • Can I use DeepSeek for text and Gemini for images? Yes — set a dedicated image provider in the "Images & Vision" box. See the related Vision article.
  • Why does OpenAI block on big sites? Its per-tier daily request cap can be exhausted by large Turbo batches. Raise your OpenAI tier, slow Turbo down, or switch the batch to DeepSeek.
  • Is Perplexity worth adding? Only if you want the GEO Radar AI-citation engine with your own Sonar key. For ordinary SEO it is the wrong tool.

Troubleshooting

If a provider keeps hitting limits during big batches, switch that batch to DeepSeek (best for volume) or spread the load with the multi-key pool, and lower AISA Turbo's multiplier — Turbo also auto-tunes down on 429s. If a provider you expected to do images shows the struck-through "SEO images" badge, it is text-only by design; choose Claude, OpenAI or Gemini for Vision. If Gemini errors mention a deprecated model, pick gemini-2.5-flash (or "Gemini Flash (always latest)") rather than an old 2.0 model.
