The Standalone SEO block: AISA when no SEO plugin is active

What it is

The Standalone SEO block is the meta box titled "AI SEO Assistant — SEO" that AISA shows under the editor when no third-party SEO plugin is active. In this standalone mode AISA stores and emits the SEO itself, using its own post-meta fields: focus keyphrase, SEO title, slug, meta description and the AI/llms data. The block gives you the AI bar (provider + language + Generate SEO), the focus keyphrase, the SEO title and meta description as editable fields with variable pills, the slug, a live Google preview, search-engine visibility (robots), the social image picker and — for posts/pages — AI Search Context.

Where to find it

Open any enabled post or page in the editor while no SEO plugin (Yoast, Rank Math, SEOPress, AIOSEO) is active. The block appears in the main column, high priority, under the title "AI SEO Assistant — SEO". The post types where it shows are the ones enabled in Settings → Post Type.

Requirements & tier

  • AISA must be in standalone mode: no supported SEO plugin active (or you have chosen standalone).
  • The post type must be enabled under Settings → Post Type.
  • An AI provider (Cloud credits or your own key) is needed for the Generate buttons.
  • The box has two looks, selectable in settings: the dark brand tab style (default) or the plain WordPress wp style.

How to use

  1. Open an enabled post or page; the "AI SEO Assistant — SEO" block appears under the content.
  2. In the AI bar choose the provider and confirm the language (it is pre-selected from the page's real content, not left as ambiguous "auto").
  3. Press Generate SEO to fill keyphrase, title, meta description (and slug).
  4. Edit any field; the live Google preview and the character/word counters update as you type.
  5. Optionally set robots (noindex/nofollow), a per-post social image, and AI Search Context.
  6. Save the post — the values are written to AISA's own meta fields and emitted on the front end.

Questions people ask

  • When does this block appear instead of the floating panel? The floating panel lives in integration mode (writes into your SEO plugin); the Standalone block appears when no SEO plugin is active.
  • What happens to my old Yoast/Rank Math data if I deactivate it? AISA reads the residual values from the disabled plugin so the block shows your real SEO; on the first save those values are materialised into AISA's own fields. This is a zero-click migration — nothing to move by hand.
  • Does standalone handle robots noindex/nofollow? Yes — the robots checkboxes appear only in standalone (when a SEO plugin is active, that plugin handles robots).
  • Can I still pick a Schema/Template per post? Yes — the block includes a Schema/Template selector (Auto by content type, or Default/Custom 1/2/3).
  • Does it generate the AI Search Context too? Yes, for posts and pages, when the llms.txt feature is enabled.

Troubleshooting

  • The block isn't showing. A SEO plugin is probably active (then the floating panel is used instead), or the post type isn't enabled in Settings → Post Type.
  • "No AI provider configured." Add and test a key under Settings → API Keys, or use Cloud credits.
  • Content locked banner. In Free, some content is excluded; upgrade to Premium to unlock all posts.
  • Slug didn't change. AISA only forces the slug when you actually edit the field; otherwise WordPress derives it from the title.
