AI Search Context: the llms meta for AI engines

What it is

AI Search Context is a per-page block of instructions for AI crawlers (Perplexity, ChatGPT, Google AI). AISA stores it in the _aisa_ai_context post meta, emits it as a <meta name="ai-context"> tag in the page head, and feeds it into your site's llms.txt. It typically holds a short "Topics:" line plus a "Context:" description that tells answer engines what the page is about — the GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) companion to classic on-page SEO.

Where to find it

In the Standalone SEO block, the AI Search Context (GEO) section appears for posts and pages (when the llms.txt feature is enabled), with a textarea, a ⚡ Generate with AI button and a collapsible LLM.txt format preview. In the floating panel, tick "Also generate AI Search Context" when you press Generate SEO. It is also generated from 1-Click SEO and the Auto SEO Fix box.

Requirements & tier

  • The llms.txt / GEO feature must be enabled (it gates the AI Search Context section).
  • Only for posts and pages.
  • An AI provider for the Generate with AI button.
  • The context is persisted immediately when applied from the panel, so the saved state doesn't depend on the post save.

How to use

  1. Open a post/page; find the AI Search Context (GEO) section.
  2. Press ⚡ Generate with AI to produce the Topics/Context block, or write it yourself.
  3. Expand LLM.txt format preview to see how it will appear under the page's slug heading in llms.txt.
  4. Save (or, from the panel, applying persists it immediately).
  5. In Settings → GEO LLMS.txt, choose which pages with AI Context to include and rebuild the file.

Questions people ask

  • What does it output? A <meta name="ai-context"> tag in the page head and an entry in the site's llms.txt.
  • Does Google use it? Google states it does not use llms.txt/ai-context for its AI features; AISA offers them as an emerging standard read by other AI crawlers (Anthropic, Perplexity, OpenAI). For Google, classic SEO and quality content matter — which AISA also covers.
  • Can I generate it with the SEO at once? Yes — tick "Also generate AI Search Context" in the floating panel, or include it in 1-Click SEO.
  • Which pages end up in llms.txt? Only the ones you keep ticked in Settings → GEO LLMS.txt; fewer authoritative pages work better than many.
  • Is it only for posts and pages? Yes — the per-page AI Context section is shown for posts and pages.

Troubleshooting

  • The section isn't there. Enable the llms.txt/GEO feature, and make sure the content is a post or page.
  • Context not in llms.txt. In Settings → GEO LLMS.txt, tick the page and press "Save selection and rebuild."
  • Generation blocked. Configure an AI provider and fill the Brand Context business description.
