SEO for categories, tags and taxonomies

What it is

AISA brings the same SEO block you use on posts to terms — categories, tags and public taxonomies — "just like a post". It reuses the post SEO markup and JS, so the experience is identical: focus keyphrase, SEO title and meta description, saved as term meta. On taxonomy archives (standalone mode) it outputs the title and meta description, resolving variables like %%term_title%%, %%sitename%%, %%sep%% and %%currentyear%%.

Where to find it

Open a term's Edit screen (e.g. Posts → Categories → edit a category): the "AI SEO Assistant" row appears in the edit form. Which taxonomies are enabled is controlled in Settings → Post Type.

Requirements & tier

The block shows only in standalone mode (no SEO plugin active); in integration mode the floating panel applies values to Yoast/Rank Math/SEOPress on the term instead. Frontend title/meta output is emitted only in standalone. AI generation needs a configured provider or Cloud credits.

How to use

  1. Enable the taxonomies you want in Settings → Post Type.
  2. Edit a category/tag/term to open its edit form.
  3. Use the AISA block to set keyphrase, title and meta — or generate them with AI.
  4. Save the term (values are stored as term meta).
  5. On the archive, AISA serves the title/meta (standalone), resolving variables.

Questions people ask

  • Does it show in the "Add new" term form? No — only in the term Edit form.
  • Which taxonomies are covered? Categories, tags and the public taxonomies you enable.
  • Does it work with a SEO plugin active? Then the floating panel writes into that plugin; the standalone block is hidden.
  • Are terms given a modified date? Yes — AISA stamps a term "last modified" on save.
  • What variables are supported? term title, site name, separator and current year.

Troubleshooting

If you do not see the AISA block on a term, check that the taxonomy is enabled and that no SEO plugin is active (otherwise use the floating panel). If archive title/meta do not change, remember frontend output is standalone-only and only applies when a value is set.
