Internal link suggestions from the text of the page

What it is

Internal link suggestions is a box in the editor that proposes up to six pages and posts of your site you could link to from the content you are writing. Internal links help readers move through the site and help search engines understand which pages belong together.

From 2.0.2 the suggestions start from the text of the page: the pages and posts your text already mentions come first. Each suggestion shows why it was proposed and the anchor to use.

Where to find it

The Internal link suggestions box in the side column of the editor (block editor and Classic editor), on every post type AISA is enabled for.

Requirements & tier

Free. No AI is involved and no credits are used: suggestions are computed on your site from your own content.

How suggestions are chosen

Each suggestion carries its reason:

  • mentioned in your text — your text names the title or the focus keyphrase of another page. These come first, with the words that matched.
  • same category/tag — the other content shares a category or tag with this one.
  • related topic — the two contents share significant words in the title, keyphrase and text.

Pages and posts are considered together, and pages without categories or tags get suggestions too. Links already present in the content, Elementor included, are not proposed again.

How to use

  1. Open a post or page and look at the Internal link suggestions box.
  2. Read the reason and the Suggested anchor: for suggestions from your text, the anchor is the phrase as written in the page.
  3. Click Copy link, select the anchor words in your text and paste the link.
  4. Save. The suggestions refresh: the page you just linked will not be proposed again.

Questions people ask

  • Does AISA insert the links by itself? No. The box suggests; you decide where the link goes and with which words.
  • Why do I see "Everything related is already linked"? All the related contents AISA found are already linked from this page.
  • Why are there no suggestions? No other content is mentioned in the text or shares words with the title and keyphrase. Adding a focus keyphrase, or mentioning the related pages by name, helps.
  • Does it slow down the editor? No. AISA keeps an index of candidate pages in cache and refreshes it when a content is saved, published or deleted.
